Ranked is Quizball's competitive mode: a live one-against-one football trivia match against a real opponent, played for ranked points (RP). Three categories are drawn from the catalogue; each player bans one, and the match is played in the category that survives. Twelve questions in two halves, with a category re-draw at half-time.

Every question is a possession battle. Both players answer the same question; the faster correct answer wins ground on the pitch. Push the ball to the opponent's goal line to earn a shot, and a shot that beats the keeper is a goal. If the score is level at full time the match goes to penalties: a question decides every kick.

Winning earns RP and moves you up the tiers, from Academy to the top divisions; losing costs RP. New accounts play three placement matches before they get a tier. Your matches, win rate and rank live on the leaderboard, and the weekend competition takes its qualification points from ranked play.

The training match on this page is a guided version of exactly that flow: the same ban phase, the same possession rounds and a penalty shoot-out, against CoachBot, with hints at every step. It awards nothing and is not saved. Ranked itself needs an account.
